New Category! ISIM

I Surf the net .. A lot! and i get inspired .. A lot!

I decided to start a new category on my blog called I saw i made. These are things that i see from other blogs and would love to make .

My first post in this category is the one on white boards .

More to come!

ISIM : Easy Whiteboard

I was browsing today morning and found my self on this lovely blog secretstitchclub and found this cute tutorial on how to make white board without the white portion.
Immediately i was going through the stuff i had to make this and lo behold on my table was a stack of frames that were kept to be put away for later use. I have a plastic frame which is made to look like wood carving . I am not too fond of this frame but some how it was perfect for this project.

So here is what i did, I placed a scrap piece of cloth from my scrap bin

and Hot glued some ribbons tied a beautiful bow and its ready!

I feel great to use something i was not crazy about and made it pretty!

My Living room has a Seating issue. I have been looking for ways and means to add seats or chairs.
I have been toying with the idea to make coushions to keep under my coffee table that i can pull out for extra seating.

What started out as a seat under the table beacme a big bean bag ottoman.

Heres how it happned.

I started out with 2 meters of thick brown upholstry material which had a 48 inch width. Though the idea was to make a seat with 21" i liked having an even 24 inch seat. The height is 12" . This can change as per your need

Materials

1 ) Thick upholstry cloth or faux leather or canvas
24" x 24" squares (2 pieces) add 1
24" X 12" rectangles (4 pieces)
2) Zipper black or brown
3) Matching thread
4) Sewing machine
5) Beans to fill it with.

Method:

1) Attach the 4 pieces of 24 X 12 to one of the 24X24 such that the 24 " sides of the square is stiched to the 24 inch side of the rectangle . The final resultant should be a a plus sign
2) Attach 3 sides base (i.e the 24 inch side) to the 3 sides of the plus to form a box. The last side would have the Zip

4) Stich the zipper on the forth side and seal well
5) Fill it with beans.

6) Zip it... and relax!!!

Note :
1 ) By leaving 1/2 inch seam allowance on all sides my end resultant cuboid was 23 (L) "X 23(W)" x 11 " (H)

2) Double stiching is definitely recomended try this link for instructions on how to double stich

3) For Instructions of how to install a zipper click here

I Love the shape of the Bacardi breezier bottle and thought it was a shame that so many were being tossed away!!. They would make lovely bottles to hold oils vineger and may be even soaps etc. So heres what i did ... i made a soap dispenser !!!

Heres how

1) Rinse out the bottles completely and let dry in the sun

2) To distinguish the bottles so i decided to etch the glass to represent its contents. Inspired by these
"Periodic table cards" from pink loves brown I created there two stencils "Ha" for hand soap and Pr for "Pril" my dishwashing liquid.

3) Following the instructions of the etching paste I itched the words of the bottle

4) Fill it with soap.

5) Cap it with these cheepo lids/ pourer that i got from Chickpet (Another post on
chickpet later) and There you are!!

I realized the caps should be painted to make them look better But was so excited I had to post this!!!

Implementing New habbits

I have lived my life like a leaf and have been blown away with the wind.Though sometimes its a nice thing, many times its not. I live a very disorganized life and desperately trying to Grow some roots and organize my life in all aspects. One new habit i want to start is to write this blog. some of the other things include finishing my home , crafting more often, staring my own etsy shop, travel more :)

Currently am compiling my LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG "TO-DO list"

will keep you posted!

Is the Old "Old" the new "New" ?

Off Late I have been witnessing the circle of life phenomenon as such. What my parents tossed out as "OLD" for the then Latest has now become oh.. so HOT !!! Mid century design is making such a HUGE come back its almost insane. Can’t go through one blog or web site that does not talk of vintage or Inspired Mid century. Not that i am complaining.. I have always loved the beautiful lines and classic work but is it just a fad or is it going to stay?

The latest prediction is to have these wonderful classics re-upholstered in very jazzy designs.. Now thats some thing I will consider a FAD.. But its a nice one. Re-upholstering is any day so reversible when the "FUN" element has worn off.

On a FUN Note I love this Headphone from "Zella Brown" . Don’t think its very practical.. But top marks of the Fun Aspect

A Start

For most people a day starts with a cup of coffee, tea (Some may prefer the stronger stuff )..and the newspaper. But for me its a cuppa chai and my daily dose of design. I am an Apartment thearapy Adict. There it is.. I said it.. its all in the open now....I spend hours looking through old posts and new posts and the wonderful journeys it takes me on.. jumping from one link to another. Comments make me feel as though i am connected to all .. we are all relaxing over a cup of coff and just talking.. like old friends....Duh!!Yeah yeah.. thats the whole point of the internet and blogs!

So What am i doing here? Nothing new actually.. Would just put down my thoughts .. what inspires me that day.. and few of my own designs.. oh yes.. i almost forgot.. I am an Interior designer... well have started my own freelance in bangalore India.

Apart form designing, I love to travel, Read and Love learning new stuff...
